YUL RECORDS AND MANAGEMENT are back in 2010 with FIVE exciting New Artists.

Out this spring the 1st single by DEREK FALLS “No More Lies” will be issued in English, French and Spanish and features an all girl string quartet, and the Video we just shot (the three languages) also featured the Quartet & an amazing performance from dancer Danielle of La La La. Our girl Candi Vina delivers her 1st single, a wicked cover also in English, French and Spanish of the Janis Joplin classic “Mercedes Benz”.

The story of TRUTH DIVISION will begin to unfold with the mini-lp “Utopium” featuring Jim Zeller and the elusive Arthur Curtis while XLR8R issue their 1st mini-lp “Psycho Alert”.

ROOM 4RU continue to record with the ghost of Nick Drake and we’ll expect their 1st offering “It Just Doesn’t Matter” later this year.

In 2009 the Original RATIONAL YOUTH duo of Tracy Howe and Bill Vorn re-united with yours truly to form a new Publishing Company DHV Music to administer the entire Rat Youth catalog…and now that the talking is over, there will be an all NEW (radio, extended & instrumental) single “DANCING ON THE BERLIN WALL” and an CDEP of ReMixed ReMastered Extended Versions of “Close To Nature” “Coboloid Race” “Le Meilleur Des Mondes” and “DotBW ”.

The classic 1982 LP COLD WAR NIGHT LIFE will see the light as an HQ 180gram vinyl collector’s edition. New Material if all goes well eh lads ? …and a YUL Records Sampler “THE ELECTRO-BEAT CABARET” covering all the new artists and new songs on SIDE ONE and classic old material recorded whether released or un-released during the 80’s by Rational Youth, Cham-Pang, Fauvres, & Monty Cantsin ? THE ORIGINAL YUL RECORDS
started operating in 1981 with its first back to back 12 inch single releases by CHAM PANG 12 YUL1 and RATIONAL YOUTH 12 YUL 2. A complete history and discography of one of Canada’s first indy alternative music labels will appear soon on this still  UNDER CONSTRUCTION web-site.

YUL was in the early 80’s (and is again) the AVIATION CODE for MONTREAL and thereby symbolized our attachment to our city. Credit goes to Pyer Desrochers my first associate on those two early releases for penning the name. I liked it as it reminded me of 415 Records from San Francisco, a cool indy label at the time who used the city’s area code in a similar way to identify their origins.
YUL RECORDS took a long break for sure (20 years) during which time no less than TWO other YUL RECORDS appeared in Montreal between 2000 and 2008. Popular name I guess. To those YUL RECORDS I thank you for keeping the name alive but must now set the record straight and reclaim what is ours.
